18th September - Joie de Vin - Wines the French like to keep for themselves
On 18th September, we welcomed old friends of the club, Tim and Jill North of Joie de Vin, a Winchester based independent wine seller.

Tim has a long career in the wine trade having worked for 15 years for France's largest wine exporter. He has developed a good working relationship with many family producers and small scale vignerons whose products he imports and sells.

There is much excellent French wine made which they largely keep for themselves. Fortunately some escapes to Tim's warehouse and he showed us 8 wines from his current range.

28 members attended and we tasted wines from the Loire, Bordeaux and the Languedoc regions:

White wines:

Domaine les Remparts Colombard Sauvignon £10.00
Ch Guery Viognier £12.50
Ch Guery Chardonnay £12.50
Domainede la chaise Chenonceaux £16.95
Domaine Normande St Veran £25.00

Red wines:

Domaine les Remparts Malbec £10.00
Ch Guery Mourvedre £12.00
Gitton Sancerre rouge £25.00
Dom Tuque Bel Aire Castillon Cotes doe bordeaux £19.50

We sent Tim and Jill away with about £700 in orders which we hope made his journey worth while.

It was a good tasting evening which with Sue Rossell's buffet catering made a very enjoyable club meeting.
